Real Estate: After three deals fell through, a new life for former Boyd Printing plant
For a while it seemed the former William Boyd Printing Co. plant in downtown Albany would be another large commercial property that lingers on the market.
Three deals to buy the Sheridan Avenue buildings were floated and then sank after the company filed for bankruptcy in September 2005.
Two involved New York City investors, one of whom proposed building a hotel and upscale apartments on the land behind the nearby Hampton Inn & Suites; the third potential deal was with the former owner of Latham Circle Mall, Eugene Weiss.
In this case, the fourth time was the charm.
